Paasi Paruppu Sambar

It's a tasty sambar for kids.
It goes well with idly, dosa, rice too.

Ingredients:
Pasi Paruppu - 5 tsp
Carrot - 1
Pumpkin - 1 slice
Spinach - 5 leaves
Small onion - 5 
Garlic - 10
Red chilly - 1
Green chilly - 1
Curry leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Hing - a pinch
Mustard - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp
Fennel seeds - 4 seeds
Coconut oil - few drops
Salt - as needed

Procedure:

1. Dry roast the paasi paruppu.
2. Allow it to cool and soak in water for 10 mins.
3. In a pot boil water, add soaked dal, vegetables, turmeric powder, salt, coconut oil cook well.
4. In a pan add oil, mustard, hing, jeera, coriander seeds, small onion, garlic, green chilly, red chilly, curry leaves saute well.
5. Add cooked dal and vegetables, spinach and cook for few mins.
6. Check the taste and adjust salt and spicy.
7. Add coriander leaves and switch off. 
8. Serve hot with rice and ghee.

Papaya Makka Rava Kesari

Papaya Makka Rava Kesari

Ingredients:

Makka rava - 1 cup
Papaya puree – 1 cup
Palm sugar – 3 tsp
Ghee - 5 tsp
Cashew – 5
Almonds  – 5
Raisin – 5
Cardamom powder – a pinch

Procedure:

1. In a pan dry roast makka rava.
2. Make puree with papaya.
3. Put palm sugar in water and once boiled strain and remove the impurities.
4. In a pan add ghee roast the almonds, cashews, raisin. Keep aside.
5. In the same pan put the dry roasted rava and saute for 2 mins.
6. Add 5 cup of water, cardamom powder and cook the makka rava.
7. Add papaya puree and cook till it becomes thick.
8. Add palm sugar according to the sweetness of papaya puree.
9. Cook till it becomes thick and leaves the ghee on the sides.
10. Serve cool with ice cream. It tastes yummy.

Hibiscus Mint Lemonade

Summer cooler drink.
Ingredients:

Hibiscus flower - 5 
Mint leaves - 5
Lemon juice - 2 tsp
Palm sugar - as needed

Procedure:

1. In a pan add water, petals of hibiscus flower, palm sugar.

2. Strain and let it cool.

3. Add crushed mint leaves.

4. Add lemon juice.

5. Mix well and Serve.


Raagi Black Urad Dal Porridge

Baby food:

Raagi black urad dal is a healthy recipe for kids growth and development.

Raagi has rich of calcium, iron, protein, fiber.

Black urad dal has calcium, iron, protein, fiber, magnesium, copper, zinc, , potassium, Vitamin B6.


Ingredients:

Raagi - 5 tsp
Black Urad Dal - 5 tsp

Procedure: 

1. Dry roast black urad dal with skin till colour changes.

2. Once cool down soak roasted black urad dal, raagi in a same bowl for 3 hours.

3. Now wash the raagi and black urad dal well.

4. Don't throw the skin of black urad dal.

5. Now add in the blender with little water and blend to a paint consistency.

6. Now strain the pulp and add little water.

7. Keep the pan in low flame and cook till good aroma comes. 

8. Switch off the flame.

9. Serve once cool down.

Black Urad Dal - 5 tsp
Rolled Oats - 10 tsp
Salt - as needed
Nuts - optional for decoration
Fruits - optional for decoration

Procedure: 
1. Dry roast black urad dal with skin till colour changes.

2. Once cool down soak roasted black urad dal, raagi in a same bowl for 3 hours.

3. Now wash the raagi and black urad dal well.

4. Don't throw the skin of black urad dal.

5. Now add in the blender with little water and blend to a paint consistency.

6. Now strain the pulp and add little water.

7. Keep the pan in low flame and cook till good aroma comes. 

8. Add more water and add oats.

9. Cook in low flame for 20 mins.

10. Now add salt and serve.

Instant Shahi Tukda


Instant Shahi Tukda
I learnt this recipe from my Facebook friend Waheetha Azarudeen. 

Usually shahi tukda made up of fried bread.
Here i do it with Rusk. 

Ingredients:

Rusk - 4 nos 
Milk - 1 cup 
Sugar - 1/2 cup
Elachi - 2
Saffron stand -  5 to 7 
Turmeric powder - a pinch 
Ghee -  1 tsp 
Nuts - as needed
Rose water - 1 tsp

Procedure:

1. Boil milk with elachi and sugar.
2. Add saffron or a pinch of turmeric powder. 
3. Add chopped nuts and make milk turn to thick rabdi.
4. Add rose water.
5. Then add ghee and switch off.
6. And in a bowl arrange rusk and pour rabdi on it.
7. Let it soak for few min.  
8. Decorate with nuts and serve.

Let’s start the blog with new sweet recipe.
This sweet recipe is very close to my heart.
I learnt this recipe from Revathy Shanmugam mam.
This is her first video in her YouTube channel. 
It will get ready in fraction of seconds with simple ingredients and quick procedure.
Ingredients:
Rava – 1/4 cup
Ghee – 1/2 cup
Milk – 2 cups
Sugar – 1 cup
Dry nuts( Almonds, Pista) – 1 spoon
Procedure:
1. In a pan, add 2 cups of milk.
2. Add 1 cup sugar.
3. Add 1/2 cup ghee.
4. Add 1/4 cup rava.
5. Stir continuously for 20 mins till the ghee oozes out, without leaving the hand.
6. Decorate with chopped nuts.
7. Serve hot or chill.
